Invite, equip, deploy     

Guided by faith and scripture, we partner with local village and church leaders to do three things: invite, equip, deploy.

Invite

We start each new project site by meeting with local village and church leaders in rural Tanzania. We focus on the assets of the community and learn about the strengths and goals of the people who live there. What do they envision for their future? What are the immediate needs for their people? How can we best help? We then invite the community to join us on a journey of transformation.

Equip

Once we learn how we can best help a community, we get to work. Oftentimes, the most effective way we can empower is through sustainable goat farming. While the goat provides literal sustenance, with the help of the Gospel, we provide spiritual sustenance. Through both components, recipients undergo a transformation, gaining confidence, faith and self-esteem. Our Field Officers meet individually with families to explore their dreams and goals and then break them into achievable parts. Then they walk alongside them as they work towards their goals. 

Besides equipping families, we also help prepare leaders and volunteers. We seek those excited and passionate about our mission and teach them the skills needed to empower families in need. We seek those who are: Faithful, Accountable, Teachable, Trainers (FATT).

Deploy

What begins with one goat farm soon blossoms into a community of sustainable goat farms. We see entire villages empowering each other to live out their gifts and passions. They’re able to care for themselves and each other in ways that honor and glorify God. 

Discipleship for Development

Food For His Children follows the Discipleship for Development® Program, a ministry that helps people in communities become all God intends for them to be. Experienced leaders help people of a community grow in their ability to problem-solve, take control of their lives and imitate this process for others. 

Through this ministry, individuals and entire communities are transformed.
