Our Mission
Our Work
Food for His Children exists to show Christ's
love, serving the poorest of the poor, equipping people to better support their families and empowering them to strengthen their communities through self-sustaining opportunities that will impact generations.
Micro-development and Hybrid Dairy Goats
Micro-development
We believe in working together with people in poverty to promote their ability to provide for themselves when given an opportunity. Micro-development projects focus on direct aid to individuals to create small businesses, which lead to sustainable self-sufficiency. This fosters dignity rather than dependency. Micro-development has been demonstrated to be successful in many developing countries. In Tanzania, we are providing families with a goat as the beginning of an agricultural income-producing opportunity.
History
We strive to serve the poorest of the poor in rural Tanzania, primarily focusing on child-headed families orphaned by AIDS/HIV, single mothers, widows, disabled and elderly, with no ability to care for themselves. This group often goes unserved by both government and non-governmental agencies. Each family is selected by the village elders to be the neediest in their community.
Food For His Children is a MN based Christian non-profit ministry, created in response to crisis conditions in Tanzania. We strive to provide micro-development opportunities leading the way to self-sufficiency for people of all faiths, anywhere that God leads us.
Food For His Children is a thriving God driven ministry. We are honored and humbled that God has trusted us with the development of this ministry. Our MN and Tanzania teams continue to work through prayer and development, striving to follow Christs' lead.
Let us love not in words or tongue, but in action and in truth.
1 John 3:18
The ministry brings together people of all faiths for a common purpose of demonstrating the love of Jesus in a tangible way. When the goats are provided to family recipients, it is done in the name of Jesus and all recipients are prayed over. Our partnership with community church leaders in Tanzania provides additional opportunities to share the love and truth of Christ with all people. We pray that Food For His Children would be for Gods glory and that many will come to know Christ as a result of this ministry.

Raising goats makes sense in the Tanzania climate. Goats are generally more easy to care for than other livestock. They can be cared for in a relatively small area of land, they are easy to feed, they can withstand hot temperatures, and require less water, which is often in short supply. Goats can live up to 15 years. Goats provide milk which is used by the families for nutrition, and may be sold for income. Our program chooses to use hybrid goats, which produce 2-4 liters of milk per day compared to the local goats which produce only ½ liter per day. Breeding is closely tracked to ensure quality goats.
Once selected the families receive 3 days of training on goat care from a Livestock officer on proper livestock techniques and veterinarian care. They are able to use the milk to provide for their families as soon as it is available. The first-born offspring is passed on from this family to another needy family in the community.
This ministry is currently working in the Karatu district of Tanzania, Africa. Since 2008, over 150 families in Tanzania have been invited into the Food For His Children program. We work in partnership with teams of dedicated volunteers in MN focusing on program development and fundraising and volunteers in Tanzania who carry out the program.
It is through the caring hearts of the volunteers who believe God called them to serve that the program is possible. We are blessed to have the support of church leaders in the Karatu district of Tanzania who experience the extreme hardships within their communities and use Food For His Children to provide opportunities.
The goats will continue to provide milk and produce offspring, creating the opportunity for the recipients to develop a livestock business. First-born offspring continue to be passed on to others in need. With the program in place, Food For His Children seeks to establish sustainable self-sufficiency and long-term economic growth in the community, which will impact generations.
